Yesterday I put my craftiness to use and made a fabric covered frame (corduroy of course!):
First I gathered supplies
-Frame
-Fabric
-Mod Podge and Paint Brushes
-Hot Glue Gun
-Measuring Tape
-Fabric cutter or scissors
-Buttons!
Oh, and one last thing, an observant feline:
First I took apart the frame and measured, being sure to measure around the sides/back as well because the fabric needs to wrap around and fold in for gluing on the back.
Then the fabric was measured and cut (first time using my new rotary cutter and I'm in love)
Then the frame was covered with a layer of Mod Podge and the fabric was stretched evenly across and smoothed into place to remove any creases/bubbles.
Next the fabric was pulled around do the back and edges were folded under and hot glued into place.
Then the same was done to the front.
I cut a little too crazily and little bits of black corner still showed up on my front inside, but the buttons I planned on using took care of that, and that's the next step:
BUTTONS!
Buttons were sorted through and groupings were tried, until I settled on this and hot glued them into place.
Then a picture was selected and it found it's new home on our bookcase:
Since these buttons were from my grandma's old button tins I thought a picture of her would be fitting, plus, it's a definite upgrade from the cheap black frame it had been residing in.
I'm excited to make more of these and try out some different things to smooth out my process.
