No Poo? No Goo!

I started a couple weeks ago with the no poo thing. Think I'll call it no goo though because no poo doesn't sound like any fun. How uncomfortable would THAT be, am I right?

All you need for this amazingness is two things: water and baking soda. That's it! I also picked up an empty white bottle at Cheryl's Herbs in Maplewood to mix it all up in, but you could very easily just re-use an old empty bottle if you happen to have one around.

Then I just mixed up a combo:
2 Cups Water
2 Tbsp Baking Soda
(1Tbsp per each cup of water, I have a 16oz bottle which lasts me two washes)

Into bottle and all shaken together:

I use this mix about twice a week and any other times just use good ol' H20 in all of its unaltered glory.

I tend to squeeze a bunch on the top of my noggin and rub it around and then flip my head and do the same to the underside, then a nice rinse under the shower head to make sure to thoroughly wash it all away.

My hair has been soft and clean and shiny as usual and I enjoy not having any scent, though you could easily add a few drops of your favorite pure essential oil for that added pleasure. Tea tree oil would be an especially good choice if you find yourself having a dry scalp or any itchiness. Alternatively, you could mix up a spray bottle of just water and tea tree oil for an after shower spray to the scalp to help with this as well. I've done this for my E fella with some success in the past.

I have found my hair being a bit more static-y if left down, but I'm not sure if that can be attributed to the new methods or to the weather changes. Really though, no complaints. I'm happy to have a goo free noggin and will keep with this for the long haul to see what kinds of results I end up with.

Look for my home-made deodorant here soon.

Love and Puppy Kisses,
Sarbear
